First-class Tom
First-class Tom. The English diver Tom Daley born in Plymouth just fifteen years ago, has won the gold medal in the men’s 10m Platform. Daley performed the six dives bordering on perfection. The competition judges awarded the boy with the best score. Ten. For nine times in three dives. A “ten” in the fourth dive, four “tens” in the fifth one, so many as in the last one. A triumph. Daley won the gold medal collecting 539.85 points.
The young British is more than happy: «I can’t believe it. I came here to do my best, but getting on top is crazy, it is just crazy. Being the World Champion is amazing. I made so many sacrifices and I trained really hard. I want to thank my mom and my coach and everyone who helped me», he said after the competition.
Chinese Bo Qiu got the second position with 532.20 total points, a high score result of five maximum votes. The other Chinese, Luxin Zhou, comes upon the last step of the podium, with 530.55 points. While Australian Matthew Mitcham took the fourth place, 1.05 points far away from the third position.
