Today the press conference for the presentation of the opening ceremony of the 13th FINA World Championships took place at the “Circolo del Tennis”. The celebration will be at the “Stadio dei Marmi” on Saturday July 18th at 9:00 p.m. At the meeting the President of the Organising Committee, Giovanni Malagò, the President of the Italian Swimming Federation, Paolo Barelli, the Artistic Director of “Studio Festi”, Valerio Festi and the Dance Academy Director, Margherita Parrilla, were present.
Malagò has been the first one to speak in the presentation: “At the beginning we thought to organize the Opening Cerimony along the river Tevere, near Castel Sant’Angelo but we had some technical problems. Afterwards, also for the nearing of the center of the event and of the Village, we choose the Stadio dei Marmi. The national anthem is by Claudio Baglioni and it is titled “Un solo mondo”: who already listened it said me that is marvelous and transmits exactly what we want transmit”.
After Malagò it was the turn of Festi, the organizator of the ceremony : “It will be a ceremony with unique features . The Stadio dei Marmi is amazing, it has a viewing space that many modern stadiums haven’t, but mostly has a human dimension. The language of this show, “Sinfonia degli oceani”, will be the dance, a discipline similar to the swimming, able to communicate to the people”.
The dance has been realized by the National Dance Accademy, represented by the director Parrilla: “The Ballo Sport is a part of the trilogy that will represent Italy for the celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the Italian unification in 2011. The show, created at the end of the XIX century by Romualdo Marenco,will be performed by over than 100 dancers and it will be an unique occasion to renew the Italian dance tradition”.
In the end it was the turn of Barelli: “That one that is beginning will be an unique manifestation because the competition venues will be closed to each other, something like this never happened. In comparison to 1994 the venues are bigger. The ceremony, that will have as theme the water, it will be held in a wonderful location, that is that one of Stadio dei Marmi”.
