This morning at the Palazzo della Regione Lazio in Rome, has been introduced the 2009 edition of the Giochi del Mare: from June 13th to the 21st the beaches of Ostia, Formia, Gaeta and Ventotene will be the hosting theatres of beach and sea summer sports.
Lot of personalities were present to the daily press conference. Piero Marrazzo, Regione Lazio’s President, said: “Our goal is to enhance our territory through the sport. The economy rely on tourism, and especially during these days of financial crisis is important to use all the possible attractions. The joint-venture with the Swimming World Championships has helped us a lot”.
Giulia Rodano, Region Assessor to the Cultura, Sport and Spettacolo, was present too and said: “During this Championships it will be possible to enrich every sport: their planning schedule – she added – will give to the minor sports a chance for finding an important window to meet an even greater number of fans”. Claudio Mancini, Tourism assessor, concluded: “Sea and sport are two of the most appealing reasons of our touristic offer. Our beaches are now facing good incomes, hearing at the forecast of the incoming summer”.
Rome09, partner of the Giochi del Mare, was represented by Maurizio Pecchioni, Communication and Events manager: “The Giochi del Mare – he said – are the last great event which precedes the World Championships in this unforgettable sport season for our Capital. I wish to the introducing Games of Roma09 the best of success”.
