The Roma09 Village has been unveiled today in the beautiful frame of the “Circolo del Tennis”. The Village’s doors will remain opened during all the World Championships and will host the MTV program Total Request Live, presented by Elisabetta Canalis and Carlo Pastore. “I would like to thank everyone who has given the chance to TRL to be hosted in such an important sport event like the World Swimming Championships”, Canalis said. “Our show will have some differences, compared to the original format: it’ll be in prime time, 9pm, there won’t be any top charts rankings but only ‘live’ songs performed by the artists”, she concluded.
The lady of the house, Rossella Bussetti, managing director of the Jumbo event, seems satisfied too: “We are very proud of this partnership with MTV. I have to thank the FIN (Italian Swimming Federation), Roma09 Committee, who have always encouraged us in realizing this high-level program”, she said. “Moreover, we do count a lot on others catchy initiatives like ‘Sfida il tuo Campione’ (Challenge your champion), where it will be possible for young fans to have a race with their idols, Phelps, Magnini and many more, and ‘Stile Libero’, an in-depth news corner led by Pierluigi Diaco”.
“We won’t only look at the political scenario, trying to have with us some celebrities from cinema and TV: the four Tognazzi’s brothers, Moccia and others. Actually, we are thinking to dedicate a night to Michael Jackson, but I don’t want to tell you more about this”, Diaco said.
The President of the Organizing Committee, Giovanni Malagò, thinks that “this Championships will have two souls: sport and amusement. In Melbourne, once the races were over, we didn’t know what to do: but I don’t think this will happen here in Rome with such a wonderful Village. Furthermore, I am very glad to have Elisabetta with us because I think she will be a very important part of this Village, where her two souls – showgirl and sport lover – can happily live together”.
