«Roma09 will be successful»
«Italy’s not going to take part at the FINA World Championships just with its champions: there’s another team that wants to grantee the success of the event. Paolo Barelli, President of the Italian Federation of Swimming, with his experience as an athlete, and Giovanni Malagò are the two pivots for the best organization. The Government is in the service of the organization, so that Italy can do the best to give hospitality to its guests». That’s what the Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council Gianni Letta said in occasion of the presentation of the World Championshiops Medals, that took place in Villa Madama.
«Sport is a formidable instrument of foreign policy, because it promotes the peace», said Franco Frattini, Minister for the Foreign Affairs. He underlined that ONU General Assembly is still considering the proposal to engage the IOC (International Olympic Commettee) as a permanent observer.
«Italy – said Frattini –
will make a good impression, thanks to an excellent organization», confirming Rome to be a sport capital, as Gianni Alemanno said. The Major pointed out that the Capital city recently hosted many sportive events, receiving unanimous consent.
Giovanni Malagò, President of the Organizing Commettee, said:
«We’re almost ready. We had a strict program, and everything is going to the right place. Just like I’ve always said, I’ll be judged for these aspects, and I’m sure that we, Rome and the whole country will make a great impression». «
Italian Federation of Swimming – said President Barelli –
has got the vocation to organize events, and our interest is to grantee the best World Championships».
