The General Director of Roma09, Roberto Diacetti, at the Expo of Saragossa
The 13th FINA World Championships, of the five aquatic disciplines, swimming, open water swimming, synchronized swimming, water polo and diving, has been presented during the press conference on Friday 11th July at the Italy Pavilion of the Saragossa EXPO. The Championships are scheduled for the 18th July until the 2nd of August 2009 in Rome.
The General Director of Roma09 announced the great newness of the Championships: the starting blocs will be tilted, as for track and fields athletes, which will allow a better “drive” into the water.
“I feel to announce, says Mr. Diacetti, that with this newness wanted by FINA for this Championships, we can expect lots of records and this for a granted spectacle. An other aspect will also have a great importance, the environmental one: we will use electric cars and the water of all the pools will be used for hose the public gardens of the city”.
