"The Province of Rome is contributing to the Organisation of the 13th edition of the FINA World Championships with the consciousness that the success of a worldwide range event represents also an extraordinary opportunity of development for our entire country. I am certain that the citizens, the institutions and the enterprises will take this chance once more as a great occasion, hosting in the best way the athletes and offering to the thousands of visitors coming from all over the world in our city a great sport show in a unique city.
One thing to highlight is that the new facilities, created for the event, not only inside the city, but also on the territories of the Municipality and Province of Rome, will be part of the heritage of the community, giving in this way to all the passionate of the water disciplines the opportunity to swim in the same pools of their champions. One encouragement more to practice a sport able to shape body and mind, due to the commitment, tenacity and passion that these disciplines do require."
Nicola Zingaretti - President of the Province of Rome

The Province of Rome is a province and the metropolitan area of Rome in the Lazio region of Italy, with an area of 5,352 km², and a total population of more than 4 millions residents (2007) in 121 comuni.
The province can be viewed as the extended metropolitan area of the city of Rome, although in its more peripheral portions, especially to the north, it comprises towns surrounded by firmly rural landscape, just as towns elsewhere throughout Italy.
