Federica Pellegrini and Alessia Filippi in Riccione thinking about Roma09
The Italian swimming season, that will have its peak in the 13th FINA World Championships, starts from Riccione. The two leaders of the Italian team, Federica Pellegrini and Alessia Filippi, have clear targets: 'I’m preparing myself more than I’ve done for the Olympics. Rebecca Adlington? She’s a good athlete, but I just concentrate on myself. The speed is my passion! Then, perhaps, I’ll decide to register myself at 800 m race to test it' Federica Pellegrini says.

'The 13th FINA World Championships are one of the main sporting events of the year and everyone knows how much I consider. You can feel tension everywhere: in Beijing, in Rome, or anywhere else in the world. In Rome I’ll run off 800 m, 1500 m and 400 m Medley, meanwhile here in Riccione I’ll race in six competitions, including 400 Free Style, where I’ll face up with Federica. Our rivalry only exists when we swim' Alessia Filippi replies.
