19/07/2009Pakhalina's first place in the preliminary 1m Springboard diving. Tania Cagnotto and Maria Marconi in the final
Russian Julia Pakhalina ranked first place in the preliminary round of the Women’s 1meter Springboard diving with a total of 315.35 points. Wu Minxia from China ranked 2nd with 292.25 points and Tania Cagnotto ranked 3rd with a total of 285.20.
Maria Elisabetta Marconi also performed well and placed 5th, behind Han Wang from China. Cagnotto was in the lead at the beginning of the round, but in the end lost out to Pakhalina, who’s last 2 dives were perfect.
The Chinese athletes started out slow at first, but regained confidence in the second half.
The finals in the Women’s 1 meter Springboard diving will be held at 4:00 pm at the Stadio del Nuoto.
